Submission Schedule:

We accept and publish works on a rolling-basis. That means you can submit a piece at any time you wish, and expect to receive a response from us within several weeks. If our reviewers accept your work, you will be asked to conduct some brief edits, after which we will publish your work on this website. All the pieces that we publish during a certain time (roughly four months) will be collected and re-published as one volume. This means your paper will be published twice—double the publicity. After the volume is published, you will receive a publication number (ISSN).

Our Requirements:

So you’ve got a paper and want to submit? The first step to submission is to review and revise. Make sure your reasoning is sound and your writing is clear. Although we do not charge a fee to submit, we would ask that you are confident in your work before submitting, as our professors can only review a limited amount of papers.

Content Requirements:

  • Submissions must be your own original work.
    • While you may present similar arguments that others already have made, we look for originality in papers.
    • You must cite properly all works you use, but do not be afraid to reference other authors’ works when appropriate.
  • Papers may not be written by generative AI. You may use AI to brainstorm or to analyze AI itself. Any paper suspected of using AI will be denied publication.
  • Except under rare circumstances, we do not accept multi-authored papers.
  • You may consult an academic advisor to write your paper. However, you must specify what role they played, and provide their contact information in the “Additional Information” box below.
  • See here for what topics fall under the scope of this paper.

Technical Requirements:

  • Submissions should be between 1,500-5,000 words long (references, footnotes, and citations not included). We can make exceptions within reason.
  • Submission files should be PDF or Word (.doc or .docx), and we prefer Word files.
  • Do not have your name or any identifying information within the file itself. Having it on the file name is permissible.
  • Accepted manuscripts will be reformatted by us. However, we ask that submissions
    • Include a bibliography or works cited page.
    • List page numbers for any footnotes used.
    • Use a consistent citation method (MLA, Chicago, APA etc. are all fine).

Other Guidelines:

  • Some other tips to consider:
    • Be sure to explain the problem you are attempting to answer or analyze.
    • Make your position and argument(s) clear. Have a clear thesis that you argue for.
    • Interact with possible counter-arguments and objections.
    • End with a strong conclusion, explain the relevance of your research and possible implications.
    • Some guides to consult when writing: Harvard, Lebanon Valley College.
  • Be creative and have fun!
